Start looking into universities and colleges in the countries where you’d be willing to live, and see if they have Chinese language programs. If your looking to teach high school, then your best bet (at least in the US) would be to look at high schools in bigger cities like New York, LA or Chicago.

I don’t think the US wanted to rule the world - we were trying to free other countries from tyrannical rule and help them toward democracy. Letting China have a go, that’s sounds about as successful as the Russian bloc countries have been.

Your so far off base, just because the USA is trying to keep their economy growing, and trying to create a more peaceful world, where people are equal to there rights, and freedom, doesn’t mean were trying to rule the world.

A recent study of foreign languages taught in the U.S. showed that Chinese and Arabic are the two most fast growing languages. There are opportunities all over the U. S. in public schools, colleges, and private schools. You might also want to contact the American Association of Teachers of Chinese (I believe that’s their name).

I taught english in China for one year…. before i went i knew nothing about the culture, people or language, it was all new to me also. But i fell in love with china, the friendly smiles, the generous nature of the people, the amazing food and festivals and everything is so cheap you can live like a king there. The salaries range from 4,000 Yuan upwards, depending on your qualifications and where you teach. I would highly recommend the experience, keep an open mind and enjoy yourself. Most chinese students are just lovely they will look up to you! Remember it is a developing country, some rural areas are still poverished but the children need teachers there. Goodluck

Well, we’re not trying to rule the world, nobody’s just stepping up to the plate to do anything, so when the US does some stuff, it looks like we’re trying to rule because we’re the only ones doing anything. Now, whether it’s productive or not, well, the jury may still be out on some of those cases.

teaching in China is pretty easy, the jobs are plenty and the pay is good, depending on where you teach you could make from 4,000 rmb to 12,000 rmb, sometimes the job includes housing and re-reimbursing you for your plane ticket, they should get you the proper visa as well

they will not make fun of you, they will not even think that at all

It behooves one to look very closely at their board of directors, what they are getting paid, what percentage goes to public education, who they interview, are they seeking the other sides arguments without predisposition, — in short, is it tabloid journalism, or is it really true. Plus, how current is it?

China’s Olympic performance has been fairly judged. Excellent hospitality, facilties, and logistics were provided for the athletes of participating nations, and all this was duly noted in the press.

However, I don’t need to list the specifics of China’s well-deserved reputation for corruption, dishonesty, and lack of transparency. To the extent that the world’s free press dwells upon that narrative, the Olympics provided an abundance of suitable material with which to credibly articulate it.

To Lighthouse: China certainly set a high bar for London in terms of efficiency, hospitality, and spectacle, but that’s where the comparison should end. China has a long road to travel toward responsible citizenship in the global community.

Let’s not forget the two elderly Chinese ladies who were sentenced to a year of “re-education through hard labor” for protesting in the designated protest zone set up by the PRC. If we were in China, our inboxes would read “you’ve got jail” simply for having the conversation we are having now.

The outsourced jobs are call center IT jobs, and those are mostly technicians. They suck.

It would be impossible to outsource the “hands on” engineering positions, such as environmental, mechanical, civil, electrical and chemical.

I believe none of this would be possible unless Americans in there ever pursuit of low prices, put that money in their hands to begin with. We are the ones who turned China into our number one importer. Americans want everything cheap, and they can get it to us “on the cheap”. So I guess we have ourselves to blame.

Well, As you mentioned before, China and India are booming economies; probably Brasil could qualify too. Even though there’s still a bunch of poor people in these countries, I think they are taking a great approach to their strengths to take advantage of globalization. Having said this, I will exclude these countries from my answer.
The problem relies in the countries that are not evolved or evolving. A whole lot of poor countries dont have enough resources to even compete against a supplier in, say, China or India.
My case, i’m mexican. Ive lived here all my life but have had the chance to work and visit a lot of first world, and developing countries. Mexico is supposed to have resources, we are supposed to have good (or at least fair) commercial relations with the US, we are supposed to be one of the countries that could use globalization as means to grow. But in reality, what has happened is that small, mid-sized, and some large businesses have perished. You walk around and all you see is international companies. Ok, granted, they employ people. But earnings are always destined to go elsewhere, and of course, our government will always protect intl companies.
That’s just here, but im pretty sure a lot of latin american countries share this.
