I have a Bachelors degree from an American university. I want to fly to China, travel around for a month or so, and find a job teaching English. How can I apply for a tourist visa that is good for more than 30 days, what is a good way to go about finding jobs, and how do I upgrade to a work visa? I think I might have to leave the country and re-enter on the work visa, but I’m not sure. I definitely want to travel and find a job upon arriving.

Thai Airways?

Hi all,
I was always under the impression that Thai Airways recruited only Thai nationals as cabin crew. On a recent flight from Bangkok to Shanghai, the flight attendant serving my row was a Chinese girl whom i assume, was the attendant giving the announcements in mandarin (after the standard Thai and English versions). Upon disembarking the plane in Shanghai, as usual, all the Thai Airways attendants were decked out in their national dress while this Chinese attendant was still in her ‘work outfit’ (i.e. the one they wear when they serve meals and drinks). My TG flight was a codeshare with an MU flight. My question is: Do you think the Chinese flight attendant was a Thai Airways employee or a China Eastern one (perhaps maybe China Eastern ‘loaned’ her to the partner airline considering the flight sector was Shanghai)?
It was a Thai Airways flight. China Eastern was the code share flight. But the flight and plane itself were all Thai Airways. What convinced me that the Chinese Flight Attendant was not a Thai Airways employee was this: she does not speak Thai at all. I mean fine, even if Thai Airways has reversed its policy on taking on non-Thais as cabin crew, surely to work on the Thai National Carrier, you would be expected to converse at least in some basic Thai? Not that the service provided was bad or anything negative, in fact it was quite good. Just asking the question out of pure curiousity.
